What better way to celebrate National Honey Bee day than a talk about photographing insects?

Hugo Sappington, a novice macro photographer, amateur photogrammeter (and purported undergraduate student of architecture at the University of California, Berkeley) will talk about his experiences photographing choice specimens at the Essig Museum of Entomology.

The works discussed will range from the infamous scuttle fly, to the photogrammetized virtual body of an unidentified ‘beetle from Sulawesi,’ and the many miniature, exoskeletal corpses in between. Hugo will present recent work and discuss best practices for newly invented armature of documentation, the Macropod™, as well as the Canon 6II, Nikon Z7, and software: Agisoft metashape, Zerene photostacker and Adobe Suite.

This talk is hosted at Oakland Photo Workshop.
