The Reva & David Logan Book Symposium, which brings together photographers, academics, students and collectors to celebrate the published photograph, will be held on April 15th, 2023 in Sibley Auditorium on the campus of University of California, Berkeley. The biennial event, which launched in 2017, is provided under an endowment at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism that established a permanent professorship in photojournalism and funds exhibits in the School’s Gallery. The events complement the Logan Photo Book Collection at the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley, which brought the late David Logan’s exceptional collection of photography books to the campus.
After a pause in 2021, the Symposium is bringing a stellar list of guest speakers to the 2023 symposium including Sarah Meister, Jim Goldberg, Baldwin Lee, Dr. Deborah Wills, Pablo Ortíz Monestario, Ben Brody, Douglas Stockdale, Michelle Dunn Marsh, Kris Graves, Todd Hido, Mimi Plumb, Lucas Foglia, Ken Light and Christine-Hult Lewis.
The Symposium also invite you to attend a special open house of The Reva & David Logan Book Collection at The Bancroft Library on Friday April 14th, 1-4pm. If you have any questions about this event, please contact Lia Swindle at events@journalism.berkeley.edu.
Event sponsored by The Reva & David Logan Foundation, UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, thinkTANK, Photo Alliance, and East Bay Photo Collective.
