WITH JYOTI LIGGIN AT THE EBPCO DARKROOM
This five-week course (10/20 - 11/17) is for those who are comfortable shooting 35mm film but have no previous experience in a black & white darkroom. Throughout the course, participants are guided through the basics of darkroom processes, including processing black & white film, contact printing, enlargement printing, print finishing, and negative scanning.
Requirements: Participants must bring two exposed but unprocessed rolls of 35mm black & white film to work with for the first class. All other materials are provided by EBPCO! Previous experience shooting 35mm film OR completion of our Intro to 35mm Film Photography workshop is required.

Please join us at Telegraph Beer Garden for a low-key gathering. This is a chance to mingle and meet some fellow photographers, and talk about photography, or whatever else strikes our fancy!
Join us for an artist talk for Material As Witness, curated by Rena Tom. This exhibit explores the photograph as object, with its own material sensibility and narrative. The artists in the exhibition engage in image-making, in a truly hands-on sense, to subvert (or amplify) the power attributed to photos as documentary evidence and bearers of truth.
The talk will begin around 6:30, with time for a Q&A after!
WITH JENNY SAMPSON AT THE EBPCO DARKROOM
Wet Plate Collodion involves hand-coating a metal or glass plate with collodion then submerging it in silver nitrate. While still wet, the sensitized plate is put in a camera, exposed, and processed immediately following exposure. Participants learn the basics of this historical process, using metal plates to create tintypes.
Requirements: All materials are provided by EBPCO! Some previous experience with large format photography and view camera operation is required.

This one-day workshop is for those who are new to shooting film and looking to get started. Participants shoot a roll of black & white 35mm film and learn about all the basics, including ISO, aperture, shutter speed, light metering, focus, and more. A great class to take on its own or to prepare for enrollment in Intro to Darkroom.
Requirements: Participants must bring their own 35mm SLR camera - Make sure your camera meets the requirements for this workshop here. All other materials are provided by EBPCO! No previous experience is required.

WITH JOP BAYLON AT OAKLAND PHOTO WORKSHOP
This one-day workshop helps participants work with their phone camera settings beyond auto to capture images with more control. Participants learn more about their phone camera and editing apps, as well as the basic concepts of exposure, composition, light, and subject. A selection of images will be printed in class.
Requirements: Participants must bring their phone camera and charger. All other materials are provided by EBPCO! No previous experience required.

Join us at Oakland Photo Workshop for an in-person critique session where photographers share printed images, works in progress, and developing projects. Guided by experienced EBPCO leaders, participants receive thoughtful feedback and fresh perspectives while engaging in meaningful discussion about photographic art. The session offers a supportive space to speak about your work, gain insight from peers, and refine ideas. Workshop participants are especially encouraged to attend and share what they are creating. This one-day workshop is for those with some previous black & white darkroom experience who’ve been away from it for some time. Participants go through the process of black & white film processing and darkroom printing with an instructor as a brief hands-on refresher to these foundational techniques.
Requirements: Participants must bring an exposed but unprocessed roll of film to work with for the class. All other materials for this course are provided by EBPCO! Some previous experience with black & white film processing and printing is required.

WITH PHILIP KRAYNA AT OAKLAND PHOTO WORKSHOP
This one-day workshop is where participants can bring their secondhand film cameras and questions to our resident film camera obsessive, Dr. Philm! During the workshop, participants receive camera testing and assessment, a brief explanation of how their camera works, and assistance with minor repairs when possible. Resources and referrals for further repair are offered if needed.
Requirements: No previous experience required. All materials are provided by EBPCO!
This workshop is FREE and open to all, though advanced sign up is required.

It’s Photo Walk Time!
We will be meeting on the first Sunday of the month! Bring any camera you like, and be prepared to wander and shoot for up to an hour.
EBPCO’s bimonthly photo walks are a great way to connect with other photographers while exploring and photographing an interesting Oakland location.
Our photo walks are free and OPEN TO ALL! Bring your camera(s) and your creativity. All cameras welcome, including phones.
